Description

This training module covers the role of prophylactic use of negative pressure wound therapy in C-sections to reduce post-operative complications.

 

The training will link the four stages of wound healing and the maternal risk factors associated with wound healing following a caesarean section.

 

The training will go through the mode of action for negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) and how NPWT can be utilised in caesarean sections to improve surgical outcomes.

 

Key pieces of evidence and guidance, together with case studies will be also discussed during the training.

 

Learning outcomes

 

-Understand the impact of surgical site complications

- Able to identify risk factors linked with increased SSI complications in C-sections, Gain knowledge on the principles of wound healing

-Gain knowledge on the principles of wound healing

-Understand how prophylactic NPWT plays a role in prevention of SSI’s
