Colorectal Cancer Screening — Why/When/How

America/Chicago UTC -5

March is National Colon Cancer Awareness Month, and this webinar is in recognition of its great importance to public and preventive health. According to the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer is the third-most common cancer diagnosed in both men and women in the United States. According to the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable, 1 in 3 adults aged 50-75 are not getting screened as recommended. Some healthcare topics are uncomfortable for patients to talk about, and colorectal cancer screening is at the top of the list. More than 145,000 new cases and over 53,000 deaths from colorectal cancer that may begin in young adulthood occur in the U.S. each year. A variety of safe and cost-effective screening options that can contribute to the prevention and early detection of colorectal cancer are available, and yet approximately 40% of the target population remains unscreened. Please join us in a discussion of how awareness, education, and outreach can save thousands of lives and reduce the burden of this preventable devastating disease.

Join us March 25th at 1:00 p.m. ET to talk with experts Dr. C. Richard (Rick) Boland, Dr. John M. Carethers, and Dr. Joseph Weiss in a conversation moderated by a gastroenterology-industry veteran, Dr. Sheldon Scheinert. Learn more about (1) how to prevent colorectal cancer, (2) the cost-effective screening types for colorectal cancer, and (3) the importance of screening and getting 80% of adults aged 50-75 screened for colorectal cancer.
